At JGP, we specialise in providing complementing solutions for difficult access inspections and investigations. Our team includes engineers, geologists, and technical staff trained to the highest standards, ensuring safety and precision in every project. Here’s how we utilise various methods to access and inspect challenging environments:

Rope Access

Our engineers and geologists are trained to current Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) standards, allowing us to perform inspections and investigations in hard-to-reach areas. Rope access enables inspectors to efficiently and safely reach required locations without the need for extensive, costly scaffolding or high-access Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs). Depending on the building or structure, rope access often allows the asset to remain operational, with minimal disturbance. We establish small exclusion zones below the work area, which can be moved systematically as the project progresses. JGP handles all health and safety, project management, and site operations to ensure a seamless inspection process.

Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWP)

For structures where ground-level access is feasible and the terrain is relatively level, MEWP access is a preferred method. Our engineers are trained to current Industrial Powered Access Federation (IPAF) standards, enabling them to operate MEWPs safely and efficiently. This method allows for quick and efficient navigation around accessible areas of a building. In some cases, a combination of rope access and MEWP is utilised to achieve optimal results.

Confined Space

JGP has engineers and geologists fully trained in confined space entry and operations, holding City and Guilds qualifications. We regularly conduct inspections within confined spaces such as masonry-lined tunnels, rock-cut tunnels, adits, culverts, and storage tanks. A confined space is any area substantially enclosed where serious injury can occur due to hazardous substances or conditions. Our team is equipped to manage these risks effectively, ensuring thorough and safe inspections.

Boat Access & Diving

JGP utilises above-water boat access to efficiently plan and manage inspections of marine structures. Our team ensures that even remote or challenging locations are reachable for a thorough assessment. In collaboration with local dive contractors, we extend our services to include underwater inspections, integrating these with our above-water evaluations for a comprehensive overview. Our expertise in marine structures and associated defects, combined with the skills of experienced subcontractors, allows us to deliver detailed inspection reports and, if necessary, fully designed and detailed remedial repairs.

JGP partners with local surveyors and photographers holding commercial drone pilot licenses, and we also operate our own drone weighing under 250g. This lightweight drone allows for easier and more flexible deployment, providing powerful camera capabilities that enable our engineers to quickly survey structures or geological features. By identifying areas that require closer inspection, this method significantly reduces on-site time and costs. Drones can also create fully navigable 3D models, offering a thorough overview and aiding in the planning of subsequent inspections or investigations.
