The Green House
A house worked on by JGP, The Green House in Newton Ferrers, Devon has been given a prestigious ‘Regional Award’ by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Our structural engineer, Jon Warren, worked alongside the project’s architects Nick Elkins based at Brixham firm Stan Bolt’s Architects.
The Green House is a replacement house on a steely sloping site over the River Yealm, on a site that offers stunning south, east and west views to estuary and countryside. A high-level entrance on to the dining/kitchen mezzanine gives views out and down to the water through a double-height void. This is the first quality contemporary house to be built in the town and although it originally attracted over 60 local objections, the neighbours warmed to the finished house.
